The Centre of Informational and Library Support of the teaching and research activities of MEPhI is one of the largest university library centers in Russia with modern technical equipment and well-organized services, including:
The Centre established a system of informational support of the educational and research environment of the University. This satisfies the needs of the faculty and students. Traditional educational publications are complemented by electronic resources: tutorials, lab works and professors’ lectures. The most valuable part of the library is a collection of books and papers of the MEPhI authors, which even contains books published in the 1940s. The electronic library of MEPhI is constantly updated with new resources, either acquired or created by the digitization of rare books. Access to remote databases is being expanded. MEPhI users also enjoy access to the full-text versions of foreign and national scientific and academic journals. The Center transmits and borrows bibliographic records to and from the unified catalogue LIBNET and the unified catalogue of scientific literature SPSL Russia. It also participates in corporate projects such as:
library.mephi.ru provides access to the electronic library resources, where a wide range of electronic catalogues, manuals, national and foreign full-text databases are available. The reading rooms provide Internet access and Wi-Fi for the readers. The staff gives consultations and lectures on the modern methods of work with sources of information, analysis and search. Students can sign up for a series of lectures on the website. Head of the center: Stukalova Tatyana. Stukalova Tatyana, born in 1967, is a graduate of the Moscow Bauman State Technical University. T. Stukalova has been working in the center of informational and library support of the teaching and research activities (research library until 2011) since 1995. In 2003 she became the deputy director of the research library (later the deputy head of the center) and since 2011 she has been performing the duties of the head of the center. Under her leadership, the library became automated and was equipped by: an informational system IRBIS, a newly-designed web-site and a new system of book compilation, according to the norms of book provision in the Russian Federation. New technologies were introduced into the processes of compilation and organization, library access was optimized and the system of the electronic library of MEPhI was created and registered. T. Stukalova gives presentations, has published work in professional journals and shares her work experience with colleagues from other university libraries. Government awards: The honorary diploma of the Ministry of Education and Science and the title "Honored Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation." Step 1 Refer to the information desk in the main building of MEPhI (Main bldg., library, ground floor, room 053, tel: 7885699 EXT. 9445). Step 2 Answer the librarian’s questions then fill out the form and sign a service contract. Step 3 Get your personal user’s card (a personal barcode) in the library. STUDENT READING ROOM (Main bldg., first floor, room 151, tel: 7885699 EXT. 8512) Reading provides books for students in open access to work in the reading room and computers with Internet. SCIENCE READING ROOM (Main bldg., second floor, room 256, tel: 7885699 EXT. 8521) The Reading room provides readers with Russian and foreign scientific journals, scientific books, including foreign language literature and reference books. Computers for access to full-text databases of scientific periodicals are also available. Student must show a user’s card (a personal barcode) at the entrance to the library reading room. On the open access shelf, users select books and journals themselves, and upon finishing their work place them on special tables. Library is particularly focused on providing students with access to foreign and local scientific online databases. We have subscribed and purchased access to a variety of online resources.
